The Mayor of Estonia's capital Tallinn Edgar Savisaar and the president of the Estonian Sports Association Kalev, the Commander of the voluntary Defence League, Brigadier General Meelis Kiil signed on Thursday an agreement of good intentions, which aims to renovate the Kalev Central Stadium in the centre of Tallinn into Estonian national stadium corresponding to international standards, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar said that the whole of this district will be in the future one of the hearts of Tallinn's culture and sports. While the city owns the stadium area, the sports association has 99-year usage right of it.

As the result of reconstruction, a sports complex will be completed by 2019, which consists of the stadium, training grounds, training and club rooms and rooms supporting sports activities.

Estonian National Stadium will be the venue of the national dance festivals, it will be a people's sports centre and start of a health trail.

The city and the sports association will include in the reconstruction of the Kalev Central Stadium the state's co-financing, support from European Union Structural Funds and private investments, and consequently agree upon the later principles of use of the reconstructed stadium usage.
