"Although the year 2015 started on a quiet not, the market picked up speed in June and showed better results than in 2014 up to the end of the year. Thus, forecasts that buyers' euro-adoption-driven enthusiasm would dissipate in 2015 and would significantly slow the property market down did not prove true," the center said in a press release.
Apartments remained the most active segment of the residential property market, with 29,600 flats sold in 2015, down 8 % from 32,200 in 2014. Single-family house sales fell by 7.4 % to 9,225 last year, from 9,960 the previous year.
Some 14,000 non-residential buildings and premises changed owners last year. One-third of the commercial real estate was sold in Vilnius, where one-third of the country's business activity is concentrated.
