Jelgava municipality to auction off house owned by Latvian basketball player Kambala

BC, Riga, 01.04.2014.Print version
Due to the accumulation of debt to the local government, a property owned by one of Latvia's top basketball players Kaspars Kambala will be going to auction in Jelgava (central Latvia), reports LETA.

The property includes an empty house, with the adjacent piece of land.

Jelgava City Council spokeswoman Liga Klismeta informed LETA that the property will be put up on auction, as the property's owner has accumulated a large debt and has ignored warnings from the local government, leaving the property completely abandoned.

''We have tried to get in contact with Kambala about the property on Garozas Street 3 since 2009. He has not reacted to any of the letters and warning we have sent him. The property itself is also in a very bad state,'' Klismeta explained, adding that the debt for unpaid real-estate taxes for this property has reached EUR 1,424.

The auction itself is scheduled for May 7.
