Riga Airport launches investigation into possible baggage theft

BC, Riga, 25.03.2015.Print version
The Riga International Airport has received information about the recent incident on the flight – Riga-Dublin, where an unnamed passenger was suspicious of baggage being tampered with. An investigation has been launched in order to clarify the circumstances, the airport informed LETA.

The flight was operated by Ryanair, and, according to the agreement, the airline is also responsible for the baggage.

The airport expresses regret over such incidents, however, "unfortunately, the said passenger has not submitted an official complaint which would confirm the incident," the company emphasized.

As reported, a resident of Latvia who works in Ireland and flies Ryanair to Latvia on a regular basis filmed a suspicious conversation between two Riga Airport employees in the baggage compartment of a Ryanair plane. The two seem to be interested in passengers' wallets, and are apparently disappointed that they can find just a few on that particular day.

Two persons can be heard participating in the conversation. Swearing profusely, the two complain to each other that the bags are stuffed with cigarette boxes and not a single wallet is to be found.
