Klaipeda port's cargo traffic down 6.7% to 18.4 mln tons in Jan-May

The Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda handled 18.4 mln tons of cargo in January through May 2020, a decline of 6.7% y-o-y, the port authority told LETA/BNS.
Liquid cargo volumes fell by 7.1% to 3.84 mln tons, bulk cargo volumes edged down by 1.8% to 8.6 mln tons, and general cargo volumes plunged by 12.7% to 6.03 mln tons.
The total number of ship calls in Klaipeda decreased by 9.9%, or 284 vessels, to 2,574.
Annual cargo traffic via Klaipeda edged down by 0.6% in 2019 from 2018 to 46.3 mln tons.
