The Tallinn City Government will present to the city council on Wednesday the proposal for organising a public tender for buying the electronic tickets system for the public transport, writes LETA/Äripäev.ee.

The tender would include the necessary software development and administration. It is planned to take place next year with the tentative contract period from January 2011 to December 2014. The planned volume of the procurement process is 56 million kroons, including hardware and software for 600 vehicles.

Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Taavi Aas stated that the new planned tickets system is based on contactless electronic plastic cards that will replace the paper tickets. “The implementation of the new system will also provide us with a large statistical database that is necessary for creating a network of routes that would comply with the needs of passengers,” he explained.
