Cargo turnover at Liepaja Port decreased by 1.73% in 7 months

Liepaja Port handled 2,372,693 tons of cargo in the first seven months of the year 2010 – a 1.73% fall on the first seven months last year, Liepaja Special Economic Zone public relations manager Liga Ratniece-Kadege informed LETA.
45% of cargo handled at Liepaja port was general cargo, 39% – bulk cargo, and 16% – liquid cargo.
Altogether, 119 ships visited the port in July, and the port's passenger turnover reached 1,357 passengers last month.
This past July, Liepaja Port handled 345,701 tons of cargo, which was 3.3% less when compared to July of 2009.
