Fiskerstrand BLRT will buy leading ship designer firm in Norway

Print versionFiskerstrand BLRT, half-owned by Estonian ship-building company BLRT Grupp, will acquire Norwegian company Multi Maritime, which is the leader in designing ferries, refrigerator ships and icebreakers, Äripäev.ee/LETA reports. Currently the approval of the Norwegian Competition Board is waited for.

BLRT Grupp board chairman Fjodor Berman said that Fiskerstrand BLRT and Multi Maritime have cooperated closely for years and have completed many ships together, car and passenger ferries and fishing vessels. “Change in ownership relations provide us with more opportunities to develop activities in designing and technology of ice-class ships and icebreakers,” said Berman.
Multi Maritime designs ships since 1983. Fiskerstrand BLRT is registered in Norway and is 50% owned by BLRT Grupp and 50% by the Norwegian Fiskerstrand Verft.
