Previously, the ferry "Festival" was providing traffic on the route between Stockholm (Sweden) and Turku (Finland). On July 23 the ferry "Galaxy" started operating on Stockholm-Turku route, as it was replaced by the new cruise liner "Baltic Princess" on Tallinn-Helsinki route, reports LETA.
Cruise ship "Festvial" will sail under Latvian flag and Tallink brand.
"The demand for sea traffic is constantly increasing and by substituting our old ferry by a new, larger cruise liner, we have taken a significant step forward. We have a positive outlook on the future and we expect a constant growth of the number of passengers from the Baltic States and Sweden, where the ferry "Festival" has already been popular since several years," Taurs said.
"Festival" is 171 meters long and 27 meters wide.
It has nine decks and 588 cabins, the ferry can accommodate 1,750 passengers; "Festival" navigates with the speed of 22 knots per hour.
