Ice road between mainland and Vormsi Island was launched

On Thursday, the mainland-Vormsi island ice road was opened, with length of 10.2 km, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The access to the ice road is right before the Rohuküla port and near the Sviby port in Vormsi. The road can be used by vehicles with total mass of up to 2.5 tonnes.

 

Ice roads are open for traffic only when it is light and visibility is good. Travelling speed is either up to 25 km/h or 40-70 km/h. Seatbelts must be unfastened and the vehicle cannot be stopped while on the ice road.
