flyLAL considers detention of its plane at Riga Airport as act of revenge

Lithuanian company flyLAL – Lithuanian airlines treats the detention of its plane on Sunday morning at Riga Airport as a desperate action in undertaking any measures and attempting to revenge flyLAL for its lawsuit against the Latvian airline company airBaltic and the Riga Airport.

The Riga Airport suspended the flight of flyLAL from Riga. It should be the last flight of summer season, performed by flyLAL from Riga. flyLAL does not plan to carry out flights to Riga in winter season.

According to flyLAL CEO Vytautas Kaikaris, the detained plane must return to Vilnius already this Monday and perform other scheduled flights.

"We are not indebted to the Riga Airport, as it was reported. There are current payments and only a payment for one bill is delayed a bit, which cannot be a reason for undertaking such measures as suspending scheduled flights. We think that the last flight from Riga was also the last attempt of the Riga Airport to harm us by the measures accessible to them. So far both airBaltic and Riga Airport have competed in the market in not civilized ways, but by various attempts to damage the business of flyLAL," told the head of flyLAL.

Kaikaris assured that flyLAL would continue the legal procedures.
