BC, Tallinn, 28.12.2012.Print version
The city of Tallinn's press service announced that since a new ticket system will be implemented in the city from 2013, use of all paper tickets and cards in the public transport will end on January 1, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.
While the sale of 30-day public transport cards was stopped on December 1, other types of tickets on paper are sold till the end of the year but they are valid till December 31.
At the start of the next year, mechanical and electronic ticket markers disappear from public transport vehicles. Parallel to the e-ticket system, ID ticket system will initially stay operating.
Starting next year, all residents of Tallinn can use public transport for free but they have to acquire a personalised public transport card and register it when entering the public transport vehicle. All Estonian pupils up to the age of 19 and other groups of people who have the right for free public transport have the right for free transport in Tallinn.
