Representatives of the Baltic States reached a common understanding at a meeting on Tuesday that time schedule doesn’t enable to create the Rail Baltica joint venture by January 1, 2014, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.
Rail Baltica's Estonian project manager Indrek Sirp said that all Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian parties to the project wish to reach creation of the company at the start of the new year as soon as possible.
He said that several issues in the shareholders agreement need discussing still, although in many topics, a consensus has been achieved.
"Harmonising positions among negotiators has turned out to be more complicated than thought, hence we will not be able to stay in the initially proposed schedule, according to which, the Rail Baltica joint venture would have been founded by January 1, 2014 latest," said Sirp.
The negotiations will continue next week in Vilnius.
