Lithuanian Fima considering procurement of fixed speed cameras in Latvia
BC, Riga, 04.03.2014.Print version
The Lithuanian speed camera operator Fima is considering participating in the Road Traffic Safety Directorate's procurement of fixed speed cameras in Latvia, newspaper Dienas Bizness reports, cites LETA/Nozare.lv.
In 2008, Fima won the Lithuanian Road Administration's tender on setting up and servicing 150 speed cameras. Fima Solutions Department Director Rokas Slekys points out that the company is paid a fixed amount of money for each operating speed camera, as opposed to the number of established violations.
Such policy is aimed at ensuring traffic safety, not the company's or the state's profit. Fima did not participate in the previous speed camera procurement because it envisaged paying the winner a fixed percentage of speeding fines, explains Slekys.
Fima is still to decide on its subsidiary participating in the Road Traffic Safety Directorate's procurement, points out Slekys.
