Estonian composer Arvo Part decorated with Latvia's Cross of Recognition, 2nd Class
Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis presented Estonian composer Arvo Part with Latvia's Cross of Recognition, 2nd Class.
Vejonis decorated Part with the Cross of Recognition, 2nd Class, while conductor Tonu Kaljuste was decorated with the Cross of Recognition, 3rd Class, spokespeople for the Arvo Part Center said.
Part was presented with the decoration in connection with the Latvian president's state visit to Estonia. The Latvian first couple on Wednesday evening attended a state dinner hosted by Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid and her husband Georgi-Rene Maksimovski at the Arvo Part Center in Laulasmaa, near Tallinn.
The Cross of Recognition is a state decoration of Latvia. It is bestowed upon a Latvian or a foreigner for outstanding accomplishments in the Latvian science, culture or education field.
Kaljulaid on Wednesday also decorated Kaspars Putnins, head conductor of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, with the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 4th Class.
