Ventspils suffer first loss in FIBA Europe Cup

In FIBA Europe Cup action on Tuesday, Latvian basketball Ventspils lost to Ukrainian basketball club Kyiv 78:81.
This was the first loss for Ventspils in the Europe Cup tournament this season, which had won its opening eight matches.
Ronalds Zakis led the scoring for Ventspils with 14 points, followed by Marcis Vitols with 14 points.
Kyndahl Hill was the top scorer for Kyiv with 18 points and ten rebounds.
It is interesting to point out that Kyiv is coached by the former coach of the Latvian national men's basketball team Ainars Bagatskis.
Ventpils will play its next Europe Cup match on January 22 at home against Hungarian club Egis.
