Second pedophile scandal involving Rigas satiksme
State Police spokesman Toms Sadovskis confirmed to LETA that the man was employed at the time he was detained, but did not specify where exactly he worked. Sadovskis did not comment the information obtained by LETA that the man worked at Rigas satiksme.
This is not the first time a Rigas satiksme employee has been detained for committing similar crimes. Back in 2013, police detained a Rigas satiksme employee on suspicion of carrying out acts of pedophilia. The man was been detained on suspicion of raping several underage girls and filming pornographic scenes with underage girls. He is also suspected of coercing approximately 200 underage girls via social networking web-sites.
The man has since been charged for committing 42 acts of sexual crimes against 20 girls.
As reported, during a special press conference yesterday, State Police Criminal Investigation Department Chief Janis Lazdins said that the man who was detained for targeting teenage males on-line used pornographic images to blackmail them, and had been doing this for the past seven years.
The man (born 1983) has no previous criminal record and was detained at the beginning of May. Police found and confiscated over 22,000 pornographic videos and pictures of underage boys.
The man had created a fake profile of a girl by the name of Natalija on the Internet in various social-networking web-sites. After getting acquainted with boys between the ages of 14 to 20, the man asked his victims to send them a picture of them naked. He later used these pictures to blackmail the boys into sending him more pornographic images.
According to the investigation, 39 persons have been deemed victims in the case.
