Traveling is one of the best ways to enjoy the arts and the vibrant gradient of cultures from around the world. While the discovery of places around the world seems out of range at the moment, the IWCR members invite the local and international community to be a tourist across the nations – while staying in Latvia. Visitors will enjoy an international experience with the Online Auction, an Advent calendar, and a series of cultural events.

“The Online Auction offers high valuable goods and intercultural experiences through an online bidding process. Visitors can bid on unique items you cannot buy anywhere else - an exclusive bike tour with the Dutch Ambassador, a fun ski instruction day with the Norwegian Ambassador, a fabulous wine tasting with the French Ambassadress, just to name a few. Personally, I cannot wait to see the auction go online on December 6th - for a limited time of 6 days only. The person with the highest bid will win the auction item by December 11th. For sure, you will need to be quick to secure one of the great deals.” says Kerstin Steinberg, President International Women’s Club of Riga.

The series of intercultural events are no less exciting. Everyone is invited to join one of the cultural events for a limited number of attendees for a fee, like traditional cooking classes, yoga sessions, tour through Agenskalns “Slovakia meets Latvia”, or an photography exhibition “Riga through the eyes of a dancer”. The first event on the series will be an Hungarian Cooking experience on Oct 26th.

“The Advent Calendar is a beloved German Christmas tradition. The Advent Calendar counts down the four weeks leading up to Christmas Eve and is one my childhood’s greatest memories. Every day during the Advent season a new door on the calendar is opened. Our IWCR Advent Calendar is going to be virtual.

Each day takes you to a cultural experience around the world - recipes for traditional foods, a virtual travel tour, discounts to local experiences or entrance tickets for local businesses. We invite everyone to support

this fun initiative with a donation of EUR 5.00 or more”, says Stefanie Menz, IWCR Coordinator Charity Fundraiser.

With the “International Christmas Journey” IWCR wants to offer opportunities to enjoy cross-cultural experiences by representing various nations, to shop for original Christmas presents, raise funds, represent the various nations and support local businesses.
