Freight handling by Estonian ports up 3.9% on year in May

Estonian ports handled 3.36 million tons of cargoes in May, 3.9% more than in the same month last year, data available from Statistics Estonia show.
Loading of freight declined 7.1% y-o-y to 1.99 mln tons and unloading grew 25.6% to 1.37 mln tons.
From January through May, Estonian ports handled a total of approximately 15.4 mln tons of goods. The loading of goods amounted to some 9.8 mln tons and unloading to 5.6 mln tons.
Estonian ports handled 37.6 mln tons of cargo in 2019, 4.7% more than during the previous year.
In 2019, loading of freight made up approximately two thirds or 25.3 mln tons of the total cargo volume of ports. The unloading of cargo amounted to 12.2 mln tons.
