State of emergency declared in Latvia's health care sector
10.12.2020In relation to increasing number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients, the State Operative Medical Commission decided on Thursday to declare the state of emergency in the health care system, said Health Ministry's state secretary Daina Murmane-Umbrasko, cited LETA.

Every 5th inhabitant in Latvia evaluates their oral health as bad or very bad
07.12.2020Results of European Health Interview Survey (EHIS) conducted by Central Statistical Bureau show that in 2019, the condition of teeth and gums was assessed as good and very good by 45.8 % of the population, and as bad or very bad - by every fifth inhabitant of Latvia (20.0%).

In 2019, social protection expenditure in Latvia increased by 7.6 %
24.11.2020Provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in 2019 Latvian social protection expenditure accounted for almost 5 billion or EUR 4 775.6 million and, it has grown by EUR 335.4 million or 7.6 %, compared to 2018. Expenditure on sickness and heath care grew by 15.0 %, on survivors' support by 12.0 %, on old-age pensions and on material support for old age by 5.5 %.
Estonia signs new cooperation agreement with WHO
