The film is based on eyewitness accounts, previously unpublished historical sources, as well as archive documents.

The film is in English with subtitles in Latvian and is 43 minutes long.

Snore is the author of the documentary The Soviet Story, which tells about the crimes committed by the Soviet Union.

As reported, The Soviet Story documentary pays attention to and analyzes the Ukrainian famine (1932/33), the Katyn massacre of Polish officers (1940), the SS-KGB partnership, and Soviet mass deportations and medical experiments carried out on prisoners in the Gulag camps.

All of the above mentioned topics are analyzed together with unique footage from archives from various different countries, and accounts from Russian and Western experts and people who have survived communist repression. The author of the film studied the subject and collected material for the film over a period of 10 years.
