The final report of transition to the digital broadcasting in Estonia indicates that the transition in summer 2010 has almost doubled the number of families that have no working TV set, LETA/Eesti Päevaleht Online reports.

According to the data of the beginning of 2009, there were 582,089 households living in Estonia. According to TNS Emor’s digital broadcasting monitoring, in the second quarter of this year around 2.5% of households lacked a working TV set. After the transition, in the third quarter, the share was 4.2%.

In the third quarter of this year, 64.5% of homes had 1 working TV set, 23.4% had two, 5.9% had three, 2% had 4 or more and 4.2% had none.

Right after the transition, the number of homes that have at least one working TV set but cannot see any TV channels with it was 1.4%. This group includes people who didn’t manage the transition in time for technical or economic reasons but also those who don’t think TV is not important enough to bring the new technical solution home.
