European IT Agency in Tallinn unlikely to recruit Estonian experts

The European Union's projected Information Technologies (IT) agency in Tallinn will most likely choose employees from the European Personnel Selection Office; however, before media speculated that the IT body would hire the most proficient local specialists, the Estonian national broadcasting corporation ERR reports referring to Eesti Päevaleht.

An adviser at the Estonian Interior Ministry Piret Lillevälja said one position could see as many as 1,000 candidates, and there aren't many Estonian on the list.

 

The agency's opening is planned in July. Initially, 35 employees will be working there, and 15 persons will be hired in 2013.

 

As reported, the European Union General Affairs Council adopted a decree that will found in Tallinn an agency for operative management of large-scale IT systems of justice, freedom and security sphere.

 

Currently, two large-scale information systems are in use but several new systems will be developed in the coming years due to the needs of EU security.

 

The head office of the agency will be located in Tallinn, data centers in France and Austria.
