Being convicted of treason Herman Simm requested to be declared bankrupt

EPL Online: the Harju County court has initiated the process of bankruptcy over Herman Simm on the basis of his own request, writes LETA.
Ly Müürsoo was appointed as the temporary trustee in bankruptcy in the proceedings initiated over the bankruptcy of Simm who has been convicted of treason. Simm has been prohibited to handle his assets without the prior approval from the trustee in bankruptcy.
On February 25, the Harju County Court convicted the former high-level civil servant Herman Simm of treason and forwarding information meant for the use within a relevant State authority and sentenced him to an imprisonment of 12 years and 6 months.
The court ruled that the 61-year-old Simm is also to compensate for the damages caused to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Estonia with his crime, in the amount of 20,155,000 kroons.
