The Cooperation Council of Farmers Organizations (CCFO) has come to agreement with the supermarket chain Rimi Latvia about a special location on shelves for Latvia grown/made products.

CCFO Chairman Armands Krauze and Rimi Latvia CEO Valdis Turlais, along with food producers, agreed during a meeting that Latvian products would be given special treatment to help boost sales and competition with import products.

Krauze said that the supermarket chain was very forthcoming, and it was agreed that the plan would be implemented this fall.

Turlais underlined that already 80 percent of fresh produce in Rimi stores comes from Latvia, and that customers prefer Latvian products.
