Average gross monthly earnings in Lithuania increased by 1.9%

The increase in average gross monthly earnings in IV quarter 2010 was influenced by higher irregular bonuses, premiums and one-off monetary allowances, etc. The most noticeable increase in earnings was observed in enterprises engaged in mining and quarrying (by 8.8%), transportation and storage (5.2%), human health and social work activities (5.2%).
Over a year (IV quarter 2010, compared to IV quarter 2009), average gross monthly earnings in the whole economy and in the public sector increased by 0.2 and 1.9%, respectively, while in the private sector it decreased by 1%.

In IV quarter 2010, compared to the previous quarter, there were no considerable changes in the number of employees a 0.1% decrease was observed); over a year it increased by 0.2%.

Average net monthly earnings in the whole economy (less individual enterprises) in IV quarter 2010 amounted to LTL 1649.8, in the public sector – LTL 1744.4, in the private sector – LTL 1584.8. In IV quarter 2010, compared to III quarter 2010, average net monthly earnings increased: in the whole economy – by 1.8, in the public sector – 3.2, in the private sector – 0.7%. Over a year, net earnings increased in the whole economy and in the public sector by 0.1 and 1.8%, respectively, while in the private sector it decreased by 0.9%.
Real earnings in IV quarter 2010, compared to III quarter 2010, increased in the whole economy and in the public sector by 0.8 and 2.2%, respectively, while in the private sector it decreased by 0.3%. Over a year, real earnings decreased: in the whole economy – by 2.9, in the public sector – 1.3, in the private sector – 3.9%.
