The Lithuanian prime minister Andrius Kubilius gives no special prominence to the present problems in the euro area, saying he has no doubts about the future of the euro.

"We see a clear trend that the European Union has been improving from crisis to crisis since the very treaty of Rome. The EU comes stronger and more united from each crisis and I think that we should also see the same prospects in the current situation," Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius said after Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

There are no alternatives to the strengthening of the euro area in long-term economic prospects, he noted. Competition with such major world economies as China, India and the US will demand rapid economic developments from the EU which, according to Kubilius, is the only way to compete globally, reports LETA/ELTA.
