Nine pollution spots were discovered on the Baltic Sea

The border guard aircrafts of Estonia, Latvia, Finland and of Poland that searched for marine pollution on the Baltic Sea and on the Gulf of Finland during 24 hours discovered a total of nine pollution spots, writes the National Broadcasting.

Estonia’s maritime territory was monitored by Estonian, Finnish, Latvian and Polish aircrafts on the previously determined route of 750 kilometres on Tuesday and on Wednesday.

 

Over the course of the operation, nine pollution spots were discovered, for seven of them it was determined that they were pollution spots that contained oil products.

 

The materials collected during the operation will be forwarded to the Environmental Inspectorate that will deal with determining the causes and culprits of pollutions.
