Prices for the total industrial production sold in Lithuania decreased by 1.7% in October

The overall price change was mainly influenced by a decrease in prices for the manufacture of refined petroleum products – by 4.4, chemicals and chemical products – 1.4, food products – 0.7%, as well as by an increase in prices for the manufacture of wood and wood products, except furniture, and rubber and plastic products – by 0.9% each.

Over the month, prices for industrial production sold on the Lithuanian market dropped by 0.5%. The largest decrease in prices was observed for the extraction of crude petroleum – by 5.6, waste collection, treatment and disposal activities, materials recovery – 3.1%, while prices for the production of the manufacture of other transport equipment increased by 4.7, leather and related products – 3.7%. Prices for food products decreased by 0.2%; out of them, prices for ice cream – by 6.3, processed and preserved fruit and vegetables – 5.1, prepared meals and dishes – 1.7%. Prices for bread and fresh pastry goods increased by 7.3, cocoa, chocolate and confectionery – 1.9%.
Over the month, prices for products sold on the non-Lithuanian market dropped by 2.5%. The largest decrease in prices was observed for the production of the manufacture of refined petroleum products – by 4.7, and furniture – 3.3%, while prices for the repair and installation of machinery and equipment increased by 3.8%.
Over the year (October 2013, against October 2012), prices for the total industrial production sold decreased by 4.5%, refined petroleum products excluded – 1.6%. The greatest price drop was observed for the manufacture of refined petroleum products – by 10.2, chemicals and chemical products – 8.5%, while prices for the production of the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers increased by 8.5%.

The overall change in prices for industrial production sold is influenced not only by the rate of change in the price of a certain product but also by the relative share of the industrial production sold within certain economic activity in the overall industrial production.
