Foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to LTL 0.6 bln in October

Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on non-final data obtained from customs declarations, Intrastat reporting and VAT returns data, exports in October 2013 amounted to LTL 7.9 billion, imports – LTL 8.5 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to LTL 4.6 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to LTL 0.6 billion.

Over the month (October 2013, against September 2013), exports increased by 5.7%. It was influenced by an increase in exports of ground vehicles (by 28.2%) and boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (17.8%). Imports increased by 3.8%, which was influenced by an increase in imports of electrical machinery and equipment, parts thereof (by 9.2%) and edible vegetables (45%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 11.1, imports – 6.6%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 1.3%, mineral products excluded – increased by 2.4%. Exports to Russia increased by 32.1%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 6.9%. Exports of dairy products of Lithuanian origin decreased by 75%.

In October 2013, against October 2012, exports decreased by 2.8%, which was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (by 20%) and cereals (40.5%). Imports increased by 0.1%, which was determined by an increase in imports of electrical machinery and equipment, parts thereof (by 11.2%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 2.5 and 7.5% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 11.3%, mineral products excluded – 7%. Exports to Russia increased by 11.4%; exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 17.6%. Exports of dairy products of Lithuanian origin decreased by 72.1%.

 

In January–October 2013, against the same period in 2012, exports increased by 8.7%. It was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products (by 6.8%), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (11.4%) and electrical machinery and equipment, parts thereof (15.3%). Imports increased by 7.6%, which was influenced by an increase in imports of crude oil (by 11.7%), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (15.3%) and plastics and plastic products (11.8%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 9.6%, imports – 9.3%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 5%, mineral products excluded – by 4.2%. Exports to Russia increased by 15.3%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 5.1%. Exports of dairy products of Lithuanian origin increased by 18.6%.

 

In January–October 2013, the most important Lithuania's partners in exports were Russia (19.6%), Latvia (10%), Estonia (8%), and Poland (7.4%), in imports – Russia (30.1%), Germany (10.2%), Poland (9.3%), and Latvia (6.1%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Estonia (10.1%), Germany (9.9%), Latvia (9.6%), and the United Kingdom (8%).

 

In January–October 2013, the largest share in exports and imports fell within mineral products (24 and 33.2% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (11.6 and 12.8%), products of the chemical or allied industries (8.2 and 9.9%). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (34.6%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (7.9%) and products of the chemical or allied industries (7.2%).
