Latvian tennis star Ernests Gulbis is one of four players to keep an eye when the Wimbledon ''Grand Slam'' tennis tournament kicks off in London next week, according to one of the world's largest news agencies AFP.

Gulbis has been included as ''one to watch'' at Wimbledon, who are ''young, colorful and heading for the headlines'', according to the AFP. The other on the list include Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov, Croatia's Donna Vekic, and the Russian-born tennis player representing Kazakhstan Yulia Putintseva, writes LETA.

The AFP writes that the 24-year-old Latvian, was just outside the top 20 in 2011. That was before Gulbis, the son of an investment banker, lost his career focus and slipped down to 150 at the end of 2012, a consequence of too many late nights and a fondness for drinking and smoking.

"I could go out and get wasted and smoke some stuff, you know. Not some stuff, cigarettes. Marijuana, unfortunately, it's not legal for tennis players, which I honestly don't understand why. But that's my own opinion. But yeah, now I quit everything, and I live a healthy lifestyle," he said in March.

Gulbis made more headlines at the French Open when he accused Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal of being boring, the AFP points out.

At the moment, Gulbis is ranked 38th in the ATP men's rankings, while Dimitrov is ranked 31st.

This year's Wimbledon ''Grand Slam'' tennis tournament will kick-off in London next week. The tournament's draw will take place on Friday.
