Minister and representatives plant 6,000 trees in Latvian Gauja National Park

Latvian Environment Protection and Regional Development Minister in Latvia Kaspars Gerhards (National Alliance) and the ministry’s employees renewed the forest that had been illegally cut several years ago by planting 6,000 fir trees and pines, the ministry reported LETA.

 

Among participants of the event were also Elektroniskie Sakari and the Nature Protection Board employees.

 

The ministry’s participation in the nationwide Big Cleanup campaign has become a tradition. In order to ensure successful organization of the campaign, the ministry supports it. Also this year the Latvian Environment Protection Fund has allocated EUR 61,000 for organization of the campaign.

 

The Big Cleanup campaign will take place next week, on April 23.
