Almost 3,000 Latvians participate in Ligo! festival in Great Britain

Ligo! festival in Great Britain, held at the Straumeni manor of the Daugavas Vanagi organization, brought together a total of 2,843 Latvians from all over the country this year, Linda Burda, representing the organizers of the event, told LETA.
The three-day outdoor festival, organized by the Berzes Strazdi association, featured several Ligo! homesteads where participants could learn and practice the main traditional Ligo! rituals.
One day after the referendum on Britain's secession from the European Union, the festival was officially opened by the Latvian Ambassador to Great Britain Andris Teikmanis, who later met with several hundred participants in the festival.
A number of popular Latvian musicians and deejays performed at the festival, including Aija Andrejeva, Double Faced Eels, Musiqq together with MC Orkestris, Transleiteris, and others.
As reported, Latvians abroad were celebrating Ligo! in more than 80 locations in at least 28 world countries this year.
