Sevastova beats Kato in first round of Taipei Open

Print versionLatvia's Anastasija Sevastova defeated Miyu Kato, of Japan, 6-0, 6-4 in the first round of the Taipei Open today, reports LETA.
Sevastova has earned thirty WTA ranking points for reaching the next round of the tournament.
After a very convincing first set for Sevastova, Kato held her own in the second up until the score was 4-4, when Sevastova moved on to win the next two games and the match.
Sevastova is currently 32nd in the WTA rankings, while Kato is in 188th place.
In the second round of Taipei Open, Sevastova will play either Lucie Safarova or Aleksandra Krunic.
