Legendary Latvian choir conductor Gido Kokars passes away

The legendary Latvian choir conductor Gido Kokars has passed away, according to the Latvian Radio reports LETA.

Kokars was born on August 17, 1921, and celebrated his 95th birthday this past August.

He is a recipient of the Order of the Three Stars.

Kokars has been the chief conductor at several Nationwide Song and Dance Festivals, and was an honorary professor at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music.
