Latvian football team drops to lowest ever FIFA ranking

The Latvian football team has dropped to its historically lowest ever FIFA
ranking - 130th, informs LETA.
This is down eight spots from its previous ranking.
Latvia has played two competitive matches since the previous rankings - a
0:3 World Cup qualification loss to Portugal at home on June 9, and then a 1:2
loss three days later against Estonia in a friendly match.
Latvia's previous lowest ever ranking was 124th this past April.
Meanwhile, Latvia's historically best ever ranking was in 2009, when it was
ranked 45th.
Germany is ranked first in the FIFA rankings, followed by Brazil,
Argentina, Portugal, Switzerland and Poland. Chile is ranked seventh, followed
by Colombia, France and Belgium in tenth position.
Portugal and Switzerland are the highest ranked teams in Latvia's World Cup
qualification group, Hungary is ranked 57th, the Faroe Islands are ranked 90th,
while Andorra is ranked 129th.
Meanwhile, Estonia is currently ranked 98th, while Lithuania is ranked
99th.
