Government of Estonia decided on Thursday that it will extradite Marko Rudi who is suspected of having committed a financial crime to the United States, writes the National Broadcasting/LETA.

Last week the Harju County ruled that extraditing Rudi, former leading consultant of the auditing company Ernst & Young Baltic, to the United States would be in accordance with the law. Public prosecutor also supported extradition, while Rudi himself and his defence attorney opposed extradition.

Rudi was arrested in Estonia in the middle of September upon a legal aid request from the United States as the man is suspected of five crime episodes. However, the court decided that Rudi can only be extradited for two crime episodes – fraud committed against the State in a large scale and for internet fraud.

Rudi is the first Estonia to be extradited by the State for the United States to stand trial.
