Altogether 1,023 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Latvia in the past 24 hours, while 25 more coronavirus patients died, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) reported LETA.

This is a new record of daily Covid-19 infections in Latvia.

One of the latest victims was in the 50 to 55 age group, six in the 65 to 75 age group, 10 in the 75 to 85 age group, seven in the 85 to 95 age group, but one in the 95 to 100 age group. This bring the total Covid-19 death toll in Latvia to 382 persons.

With 9,887 people tested for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the share of positive tests was 10.3 percent. The CDC explained earlier that in the European Union this indicator is considered important because when this figure rises above 4 percent, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.

A total of 27,495 people in Latvia have so far tested positive for Covid-19. The total number of Covid-19 tests carried out in Latvia so far gas risen to 750,834.
