Lithuanian towns and villages are getting ready for a historical event – on the eve of the Statehood Day, July 5, at 21:00 Lithuanian time; Lithuanians in the world will be singing the Lithuanian anthem – the "National Song" by Vincas Kudirka, reports ELTA/LETA.

People at the same time in the entire world will be singing their national anthem, informing about the millennium of Lithuania's name on the eve of the Statehood (Mindaugas Coronation) Day upon the invitation of the "Millennium Odyssey". The idea to surround the world with the national anthem was born to the sailors of the "Millennium Odyssey", who were visiting world Lithuanian communities. At first a cautious idea soon found a lot of supporters and developed into a civil initiative. Currently people in Lithuanian towns and villages, Lithuanian communities abroad, most famous culture representatives, musicians and sportsmen, pupils and participants of the Songs Festival are getting ready to surround the world with the "National Song". All of them will suspend their work, concerts or training and will sing the Lithuanian anthem in the evening of July 5.

Video cameras will record the images of the singing of the Lithuanian anthem in various Lithuanian communities and they will be joined in a single video, which will be shown on TV3 channel on July 6.

The organizers of this project inform – if you cannot attend the event in the main square of your town or village, agitate your family, friends and neighbors and sing the Lithuanian anthem in your yard, street or just in the middle of a lake while canoeing.
