Latvia's bodybuilder Visockis wins Mr. Universe title in "Masters 50+" category

Latvia's award-winning bodybuilder Aivars Visockis won the prestigious Mr. Universe title in the "Masters 50+" category of a bodybuilding contest, which annually gathers the best athletes from all over the world, informs LETA.

 

In the competition's finals, the 52-year-old Visockis earned higher marks than 23 other athletes from Australia, U.S., the United Kingdom and other world countries.

 

Visockis' victory is the highest achievement in the history of bodybuilding of Latvia so far.

 

It was the sixth time that Visockis participated in the Mr. Universe tournament. Until now his best achievements were the sixth place in year 2004 competition and the fifth place in 2006.

 

Mr. Universe is the world's most ancient bodybuilding contest, organized annually by the National Amateur Bodybuilders Association (NABBA). John Grimek of U.S. was the winner of the first Mr. Universe contest, held in London. The event takes place in a different city every year, this time it was hosted by Southport, United Kingdom.

 

In 1967 the Mr. Universe title was won by the current Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger.
