Estonian Estcoy-E ended its mission in Afghanistan

Estonian infantry company Estcoy-E ended its service in Afghanistan with a ceremonial line-up in the Camp Bastion military base on Monday evening, writes Postimees Online/LETA.

 

Brigadier General Lawrence D. Nicholson, the chief of the U.S. Navy Infantry’s second brigade, gave over a medal to Major Ain Tiidrus, the head of the Estonian infantry company. Several members of the company received medals of achievement and the company members all received NATO mission medals as well.

 

“I thank you for the job well done, recognise the professionalism and high level of the members of Estonian Defence Forces,” said Nicholson.

 

Estonia sent the extra company Estcoy-E to the Helmand province for the elections period in Afghanistan. The company served under the United States’ Navy Infantry and consisted of 134 soldiers.
