The XIst Estonian youth song and dance festival will take place at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds in July 2011 as an unprecedented united show, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

So far, the song and dance festivals have taken place in separate locations: the song festival part at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds while the dance festival part at the Kalev stadium in Tallinn.

The Estonian Song and Dance Festival Foundation council members, led by culture minister Laine Jänes had a meeting with the artistic heads of the next youth song and dance festival Raul Talmar, Veronika Portsmuth and Märt Agu yesterday.

The council decided, after listening to the artistic leaders, to hold the festival on July 1-3, 2011 at the Tallinn Song festival Grounds. This way both the young singers and dancers can participate more in each others activities and more people than before can watch the dance performance.

Culture Minister Laine Jänes said that the 2011 festival will be very special in many respects: the festival will take place in one environment and the whole of Europe will observe it as the star event of Tallinn’s European Culture Capital year.
