This week-end, from September 3 till September 5, Vilnius City Fiesta will take off providing various entertaining events for people of various ages and interests, Vilnius City Tourism Information Centre informs.

In Gediminas Avenue from the Cathedral Square to a Zverynas Bridge the Buzzing Avenue event will take place. The tradition is five years old; and there are more and more curious citizens and guests of Vilnius swarming to the main street of the city like bees every year. This is where the name of the tradition comes from. The Buzzing Avenue is neither a market, or a fair. It is a place for stirring cultural action and various creative ideas. It is a place where different needs, wishes and fantasies come true, as organisers state. It is a place where neighbours, friends and guests of the city meet, informs LETA/ELTA.

The motto of this years' Buzzing Avenue is diversity of a modern city, unpredictability and attention towards new and upcoming expressions as well as the eternal values. Based on this slogan, all the program of the Buzzing Avenue is presented in five different areas.

Sports area will be set up for various sports events, field and table-top games, special attractions for children and youth, including mini-football matches, 3-on-3 basketball challenge, competitions in free-throws, darts or field-chess competitions, etc. The Buzzing Avenue sports section is organized for the first time this year. The activity will be accompanied by music played by various DJs.

At Retro and Vintage area a breath of the old Vilnius is expected. At a retro stage in Lukiskiu Square a band Subtilu-z, a singer Judita Leitaite, In Mezzo, singers Nelly Paltiniene and Nijole Tallat-Kelpsaite will entertain the public. At 9 p.m., retro dances will start.

On Saturday, September 4, at 12 a.m. Lithuanian publishers will present their books and authors, an ensemble Sudeikieciu Gaida will play. Later on at 2 p.m. Lithuanian Army Officers' Choir Aidas will stage. Legendary Lithuanian racer Stasys Brundza will present his collection of antique automobiles. A fashion show will entertain all visitors of Vilnius Capital Days on September 4; a collection Madame Will Come Later will be presented by a fashion designer Liutauras Salasevicius.

As from 4 p.m., a musical concert will take place.

In retro area on Sunday, September 5, mixed cultural and entertaining events will take place.

A special area of creative Vilnius will be provided this year as well. Unconventional arts will be presented to all interested parties. On Friday, from Vasario 16 Str. to Jaksto Str. the Fluxus Ministry invites for various events. In a framework of this program, a SLAM poetry competition will take place, dye performance by the group 25th Frame, origami and art installations by Mantas Lilis will be present in unconventional art corner.

In the evening a Forum Theatre performance On Myself and Others will take place in Vilnius Zemaites Square. While later the Independent Artists Ensemble will play jazz.

Lithuanian association of people with disabillities and a forum of art-therapy Tinklas has prepared and will stage a theatrical interaction Movements of Angels; Social Mobilities across all of Gediminas Avenue.

On Saturday, September 4, Fluxus Ministry offers origami, creative groups of architects' entertaining events, KalaSoundSystem dancing event all day long. From 7 p.m., improvisations' theatre Impro 241 takes place, and from 8 p.m. a performance by Egle Gudonyte will be shown. Tinklas will stage Portraits – an interaction of action-painting and live sound, a live social action will also be organised on that day.

On Sunday, apart from origami and the installation, a concert of New Ideas Chamber Orchestra will be available to the audience, and Ecolab Mobile Info Center 2010 will also function in this area.

Ecological food, including bread, meat, milk, honey and sweets will be traded during the event.

A special area for dancing, playing and drawing will be present in Vilnius from Vilniaus Str. to Vrublevskio Str. On Friday, September 3, it will stage the National drama theatre, a concert by The Karoliniskes Music School Bigband, a quiz show by the Baltos Lankos publishing house, New Jazz Talents from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, as well as a concert by the band Karma.

Another stage by the V.Kudirkos Square will host a concert by the Bronius Jonusas Music School Wind Orchestra, American Cowboy Music by the band Vydraga, Unique singer Migloko, Group AugaLai, Dance music from Fun Clock.

On Saturday, September 4, a stage by the National drama theatre will host a presentation of the most recently published books, a puppet theatre Avilys, a performance by Stalo Teatras; and performance of students of the Vytautas Juozapaitis Educational Centre of Culture and Arts. The Tyto Alba publishing house will organize a meeting with a writer Filomena Taunyte. The Alma Litera publishing house will present a meeting with a journalist Algimantas Cekuolis.

At 6 p.m. a performance by the theatre of elderly people First Prize will be presented. A concert by the band Geraigerai&MisSheep will follow the performance, and after it an electronic music band The Sneekers will play, in the evening a concert by a singer Sati is planned.

At a stage by the V. Kudirkos Square a concert by the Childrens Choir of Lithuanian Radio and Television, a performance by Polish song and dance ensemble Vilja, a Jewish music ensemble Fajerlach, Liepos choir, music and dance ensemble Children of the Ancient Vilnius, a concert by the band Marga Muzika, as well as rock and electronic music performances will take place.

On Sunday, September 5, a performance for children will be staged by the Ragniuke Theatre at 1 p.m.

The guests and inhabitants of the city will have a possibility to enjoy a pantomime performance Toy Thriller, get acqauinted with most recently published books by the Aidai publishing house, meet a writer Galina Dauguvietyte, see a performance by the theatre studio Elementorius, and listen to a concert Falling Star, as well as other musical performances.

At the same time, during September 3-9, 2010, a shopping centre Panorama will present an exhibition of anique automobiles – the unique exposition of antique automobiles from the Stasys Brundza Museum.

Lithuanian Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema present on Friday a closing concert of the Vilnius Klezmer Music Festival with participation by Liza Beliasnaja (modern dance), Karsten Troyke (Germany), orchestra Vilniaus Klezmeriai, Rzeszow Klezmer Band (Poland). A partner of the concert is Vilnius Jewish community.

At Vingis Park on Friday evening the Opening Celebration of the Vilnius City Fiesta will take place with performances by the best firework companies from France, Russia and Poland. A special show by Blikas from Lithuania will be provided.

On Saturday at Vingis park International track event with the Lithuanian long-distance runner Zivile Balciunaite will take place.

On September 4, the Vilniaus regatta down the Neris river will take place.

On September 5, Sunday, at a Cathedral Square a closing concert of the Vilnius City Fiesta Children of the Streets of Vilnius will be organized. Songs of the legendary Lithuanian bard Vytautas Kernagis will be performed by the most famous Lithuanian singers: Neda and Olegas Ditkovskis, Algirdas Kauspedas, Jurgis Didziulis, Ceslovas Gabalis, Gytis Paskevicius, Vytautas Juozapaitis, Andrius Kulikauskas, Andrius Zebrauskas, Veronika Povilioniene with Dominyka and Arturas, ZAS, Rebelheart, Acoustic Avenue, Atviras Ratas, chamber choir Jauna Muzika, and a brass band of the Lithuanian Army.
