Prime Minister met the new Ambassador of Ireland to Latvia

On Tuesday, December 21, in Rīga, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis met the new Ambassador of Ireland to Latvia Aidan Kirwan within the framework of his introductory visit. During the meeting both officials discussed bilateral cooperation and the economic situation in Latvia and Ireland.

The Prime Minister appreciated the friendly relations between Latvia and Ireland which are being promoted by active contacts of the people of both countries, informed BC PM’s press service.


During the discussion V.Dombrovskis informed about stabilization of the economic situation in Latvia as evidenced by an increase in GDP, export and production indicators in 2010 and decrease in the unemployment rate. The Ambassador of Ireland congratulated V.Dombrovskis upon the adoption of the next year’s budget on December 20, and shared the Ireland’s experience in managing the economic crisis.

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis expressed his confidence about future successful work of Ambassador of Ireland to Latvia Aidan Kirwan in Latvia aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
