Henrik Hololei was appointed deputy secretary general of EU Commission

European Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas' cabinet chief Henrik Hololei was appointed deputy secretary general of the European Commission on Wednesday, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Hololei continues working as cabinet chief of Kallas, where he has worked for over 8 years, till November 16, European Commission representation in Estonia informed.

 

The European Commission's civil service is headed by a Secretary General, currently Catherine Day, who has three deputy secretaries general. The Secretary General's office consists of 600 people, who work directly for the Commission's President José Manuel Barroso. The task of the office is to make sure the work of the Commission runs smoothly.
