Foreign Ministry interested in strengthening economic ties with Malaga

On October 17, 2013, the Head of the Economic and Bilateral Relations Directorate of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Einars Semanis, met with the top management of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Malaga (southern Spain) and the region’s business delegation to discuss possibilities for economic cooperation between Latvia and Spain, informs LETA.

Semanis highly commended Latvian-Spanish cooperation in politics, economy and culture up to date. He pointed out that the promotion of economic cooperation, including the search for new export markets is one of the major priorities in the Foreign Ministry's activities. Both parties exchanged the latest information on the economic situation in Latvia and Spain.

 

The President of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Malaga, Paz Hurtado Cabrera expressed interest in launching a broad spectrum of economic cooperation with Latvia, in particular, in such key sectors as chemical industry, construction, pharmaceutics, food industry and tourism.

 

At the conclusion of the visit, the Malaga delegation extended an invitation to companies from Latvia to visit Malaga.
