What is an average Estonian man like?

To mark the upcoming Fathers' Day, the Estonian Statistical Office compiled a statistical portrait of the average Estonian man who is 38 years old, works in construction, transport or manufacturing industry and earns a gross wage of over 900 euros a month, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.

He is 179 cm tall and weighs 83 kg.

 

According to the 2011 Estonian census results, 600,352 men and 639,884 women lived in Estonia. The amount of men starts falling from the 40th life year and there are a half less 75 year old men than women in the same age.

 

An average Estonian man is by 6 years younger than an average Estonian woman. The expected life duration o a man at the time of birth is 71.2 years.

 

The average age of marriage for men is 30 years.

 

62% of Estonian men in the age of 15–74 worked in 2011 and 13% looked for work. In 2012 the unemployment among men has decreased somewhat.

 

A wage-earning man earns an average of 923 euros of gross wage a month. The wage of men is generally in all spheres and jobs by 200 or more euros higher than for women.

 

The average Estonian man works 9 hours in a paid job a day, by 30 minutes more than women do. Men spend 3 hours a day on household and family, by over 1.5 hours less than women do.

 

Men have over 6 hours of leisure time a day. Computer related activities take 2 hours of it and TV watching also over 2 hours, men who exercise, do it an average of 2.5 hours a day.
