The ambassador noted the meeting of the Latvian and South Korean education ministers in Riga in 2015, where the ministers agreed on closer cooperation in student and scientists exchange and studies of foreign languages.

The ambassador said that Latvia is calling on Korean students to apply for grants and studies in Latvia. The ambassador commended opening of the Korean studies center at the University of Latvia.

The South Korean deputy prime minister congratulated Latvia on opening its embassy in Seoul and accreditation of the first residing ambassador.

South Korea is interested in experience exchange with Latvia. Two Latvian students are currently studying in South Korea with the support of the Korean government, but this number can be increased as South Korea every year support 800 foreign students.

The parties agreed to organize a discussion of experts to start work on cooperation projects in science.
