25 MPs ask Grybauskaite to veto laws on NPP construction

Petras Vaida, BC, Vilnius, 22.06.2012.Print version
25 MPs appealed to Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite asking her to veto amendments to the law on the nuclear power plant (NPP) construction and the law on the concession agreement adopted by the Seimas.

The MPs are disappointed that public opinion by means of a referendum was not asked.

MP Gintaras Songaila said that it is very important to learn about Grybauskaite's position concerning the necessity to get the nation's approval before passing the project worth tens of billions. In order to ensure strategic energy decisions' continuity, in Songaila's opinion, more qualified constitutional Seimas' majority or a referendum is necessary, writes LETA/ELTA.

The MPs who signed the appeal are: Gintaras Songaila, Donalda Meizelyte, Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, Ligitas Kernagis, Laimontas Dinius, Vytautas Kurpuvesas, Petras Grazulis, Asta Baukute, Jonas Ramonas, Agne Zuokiene, Antanas Baura, Egidijus Klumbys, Rima Baskiene, Andrius Mazuronis, Kazimieras Uoka, Zita Uzlyte, Vidmantas Ziemelis, Zilvinas Silgalis, Jonas Stanevicius, Valentinas Mazuronis, Dailis Barakauskas, Rimantas Smetona, Vytautas Galvonas, Valerijus Simulikas, Algirdas Butkevicius.
