Eesti Energia explained the decision with "analysing new outlooks ". Namely, the company hopes to find a partner to build a diesel fuel plant.
Eesti Energia has made the corresponding proposal to VKG and Kiviõli Keemiatööstus.
The company explained that building a post-processing plant would be economically more effective if the plant it built had bigger capacity.
Also the company is considering both outsourcing the raw oil refining service and selling raw oil to partners who organise its refining.
Eesti Energia said that 1 tonne of oil shale would yield nearly 120 kg of high-quality liquid fuel after post-processing, of which around 70 kg would be diesel fuel corresponding to Euro5 requirements.
